Pizzeria and Bar Blue Pearl

Looks more like a lunch place, cafe than an evening venue but well above average for lunch and a very decent price. Small but the sort of place where the owner takes a lot of pride in and is capable of more than the relatively small size implies. On the road down from Bikkuri Sushi in Ebisu that is pretty full of restaurants.

My favorite Izaka in Tokyo on the left if you take the narrow road that is first past azabu crossing on the left when you go towards Shibiya (Almond is pretty much on the corner I think). Good value, a decent cut above the average place for quality unpretentious inside and decent value in a very good and convenient location.

海仙楽

This is a stylish and high class Izakaya in Ebisu in the basement of the Excellent Hotel (an easy to overlook but quite substantial hotel on the bus terminal side of the station a little further up on the right towards Daikanyama). It attracts a somewhat older crowd and also would be fine for business entertaining. An attractive display of fresh fish is in front of the modern counter section.

ビストロ Bordeaux

A rare high class French Bistro in Shibuya on the opposite side from McDonalds/Bic Camera up a little up the slope on the opposite side. An excellent wine list and nice interior but a little expensive and also not so busy.

Of the many Izakayas around Ebisu this is the best in terms of atmosphere, reasonableness of price and quality and variety of food on offer. Difficult to spot, the place is down a steep staircase into the basement. The counter faces a really wide selection of Sake and Shouchyu. The shop owner is also a qualified somelier. Open from 17:00 to 05:00 the following morning.

Location is just off one of the roads leading away from the bus stand opposite Atre outside Ebisu station.

A very well located and very foreigner friendly Izakaya in Yurakuchou on the Bic Camera side. Run by an Australian married to a Japanese lady.
